Review of the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 4000 with BlueTrack Technology

E-mail Print PDF

I picked up the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 4000 for use when trying to play a PC game on the couch or in bed. The mouse uses BlueTrack technology which is supposed to work better on more surfaces than laser or optical. The mouse is also supposed to run for up to 10 months on one AAA battery. It has a slot with an eject button to hold the mini receiver. There is also an on\off switch on the bottom.

Physically the mouse is on the small side. I'd say it's not quote too small. The mouse is comfortable when in use and small enough to toss in my laptop bag. The mini receiver can generally be left in a laptop since it doesn't protrude much from the USB port it occupies.

Normally I use a high end gaming mouse; a mouse like this just isn't going to compare. This has worked decently on all the surfaces I've tried though (leather couch arm, carpet, bed comforter). I had the most trouble on the comforter. I had to smooth the comforter somewhat before the mouse would read well on it. All that said, I was able to play Portal 2 without feeling like the mouse was a hindrance while sitting in bed. In TF2 I've been able to put in respectable scores. For office work, this mouse is more than capable.

I haven't used it long enough yet to test the battery duration, but it has lasted about 4 months so far on the first battery. I use it for an hour or two most days. I was able to get 12 feet away and the mouse still worked perfectly. The claimed range is 15 feet.

Due to its size, battery life, and versatility; this is a good solid companion mouse to a laptop.

Currently it looks like Expression Engine is the preferred blogging platform out there
right now. (from what I've read) Is that what you're using on your blog?

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems
as though you relied on the video to make your point.
You obviously know what youre talking about, why waste your
intelligence on just posting videos to your site when you could be giving us
