Thank You Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)

E-mail Print PDF

Whether you prefer Windows or Mac, whether you're a fan of iPhone, Android, or Windows phones, if you use any modern tablet; you have Steve Jobs to thank for the experience. He didn't necessarily invent the product, or the concepts. What Steve Jobs did was refine the concepts into an experience. He had a vision of how things should work in an ideal world and he made it happen, and it changed everything.

Thank you Steve Jobs.

Plans for this Site

E-mail Print PDF

I said few months ago I was going to try a few different types of articles on this site to see what seems to be popular and what I enjoy writing. Based on the traffic I'm seeing to the site, hardware reviews, technology recommendations, and development tips \ solutions seem to be the most popular. Based on this, I plan to start publishing my drawings to a separate site. This will take them out of the RSS feed for the site and focus it a bit more. I may still put technology specific drawings up here, but probably as part of an article rather than as a standalone article. I'd like to thank everyone who continues to visit my site. It's been exciting to see the readership grow every month. If you have comments or recommendations about the content I post, please leave a comment. Every comment is emailed to me so I won't miss them. I read them all and try to respond.

For those few that enjoy my drawings, I'll put up a link when the new site is available. Thanks you.

Amazon Associates Program is Back in California

E-mail Print PDF

The Amazon Associates Program has been brought back to California. The former associates in California have all been sent e-mails inviting them to return to the program. This is good news for the small businesses that depend on the income and people like me who are trying to make a little money on the side. Here's an excerpt from the e-mail:

As you may have heard, California Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation repealing the law that had forced us to terminate our California Associates. We are pleased to invite all California Associates whose accounts were closed due to the prior legislation to re-enroll in the Associates Program.

Since you're re-enrolling with the same account, if you left your old links up they should still work.

Control YouTube on Your PC Remotely with YouTube Remote for Android and YouTube Leanback

E-mail Print PDF

I came across YouTube Remote on the Android Market over the weekend. YouTube Remote allows you to start music or playlists and control the volume of YouTube on your computer, but from your phone. YouTube Remote also supports "parties" which allows shared control of one YouTube session. This happens to be useful for me since I blast YouTube music videos while I do chores around the house. Now, wherever I happen to be in the house, I can choose a song without needing to walk to the computer. It may be a small thing, but it's also free.

E-mail Print PDF

Update: The Series 7 Slate should start shipping on the 1st of November. Amazon and also discounted the tablet. You can now get the Series 7 Slate for as little as $1049.

October 2nd came and went and the Series 7 Slate hasn't appeared anywhere for sale. The original new release said they were targeting October 2nd. If you search for the model: XE700T1A, you can find it at Amazon or Best Buy. Amazon will sell it as a pre-order, I haven't been able to find an updated release schedule yet though. If I find out anything new, I'll post it here.
